Mike Freear is a multi-instrumentalist performer and producer born in New York and raised in the north of England. Having learned piano, guitar, drums and percussion at an early age he went on to college and university to study Music Technology at BTEC ND and BA levels before beginning his career as a full-time music producer and performer.
His original creations have been showcased in his live performances over the years, in which he assembled and performed in Contraband, Lensflares, and the hugely popular festival headliners Alphadrive
Mike Freear brings a wide range of genres together, weaving live instrumentation, vocals, orchestras, electronic synths, beats and loops. Noted for having a fresh approach to music both in studio and onstage, he continues to break boundaries with his unique blend of live and electronic instruments at shows worldwide (Burning Man Festival, Glastonbury & Kendal Calling to name a few) and high octane DJ sets.
His passion for live performance has now been recognised on the world stage. Supporting established artists such as Orbital, The Streets, The Zutons, Ash, Dub Fx, Stanton Warriors, Chase & Status, EMF, Tayo, Dreadzone, Mary Anne Hobbs, Beardyman, Utah Saints and The Orb.
Recently he has been nominated for 'Best Producer' at London's presigious Atom Awards Ceremony and is one of the head judges of the worldwide B-Side Project in which he'll be encouraging producers and performers around the world to collaborate using the internet.
